How to become a seller on Kaspi.kz: a step-by-step plan

Kaspi.kz is the largest marketplace in Kazakhstan, and for many entrepreneurs it's the first online sales channel. We look at where to start, how to prepare products and prices and which mistakes most often eat the margin of new sellers.

Seller terms — registration requirements, commissions, delivery rates — are set by Kaspi.kz and they change. Before starting, check against the current information on the Kaspi.kz website in the business section.

Step 1. Set up your business

Businesses and companies open stores on Kaspi.kz, so usually the first step is to register a sole proprietorship (ИП) or an LLP (ТОО). For a small start people more often choose a sole proprietorship: it's easier and faster to open, and the tax regime can be chosen to suit the expected turnover. Open a business account in advance — sales money will arrive there.

Step 2. Choose products and check the competition

Before registering the store, it's useful to look at the product cards on Kaspi.kz for the products you want to sell. Pay attention to three things:

  • How many sellers are in the card. If there are dozens, the fight goes for every tenge — it will be hard without automatic price management.
  • What the leaders' prices are. Compare them with your purchase cost: if the best price in the card is below your cost price plus commission, you can't earn on this product.
  • Sellers' reviews and ratings. This shows how experienced your competitors are.

Step 3. Register your store on Kaspi.kz

Seller registration goes through Kaspi.kz: you provide business details, sign the contract and get access to the seller account. In the account you set up warehouses (points from which orders are picked up), delivery methods and a price list with products.

Step 4. Calculate the minimum price for each product

The most common beginner mistake is setting the price "like everyone else" and only later finding out that after commission and delivery there's no profit left. For each product, calculate the minimum price in advance: cost price + Kaspi commission + delivery + tax + minimum profit. In detail with an example — in the article "Kaspi commission and minimum price".

Step 5. Upload products and prices

When the assortment is small, products can be added by hand. If there are dozens and hundreds of items, it's more convenient to work with a price list. Keep track of stock: if a product has run out but is still on sale in the card, you'll get an order you can't fulfil — and that hits the store's rating.

Step 6. Reach first place in the card

A new store competes with sellers who have been on the platform for a long time and have reviews. The main tool at the start is price: buyers more often pick the best offer. But competitors' prices change constantly, and many use bots for it. If you cut the price by hand once a day, you'll be undercut within minutes.

About the other factors that the position depends on — in the article "How to reach first place in a product card on Kaspi".

Step 7. Automate the routine

When sales get going, routine takes most of your time: checking competitors' prices, updating the price list, monitoring orders and stock. This is what programs do well:

The RebithReprice bot for Kaspi can do all of this — you can try it for free and connect it on your very first day of sales.
