Kaspi commission for sellers: how to account for it in the price and calculate the minimum
Marketplace commission, delivery and tax eat up a noticeable part of the price. If you don't account for them in advance, a product can sell well and still bring no money. We look at how to calculate the price below which selling on Kaspi.kz is unprofitable.
The size of Kaspi's commission depends on the product category and may change. Check current rates in the seller account and on the Kaspi.kz website. The numbers in the examples below are illustrative, only to show the calculation.
What the costs of a single sale consist of
- Cost price — the purchase price of the product plus delivery to your warehouse.
- Kaspi commission — as a rule a percentage of the sale price; the rate depends on the category.
- Delivery to the buyer — if you pay for it rather than the buyer.
- Tax — depends on your tax regime; under regimes with a turnover tax this is also a percentage of the sale price.
- Minimum profit — the amount for which selling the product makes sense at all.
An important detail: commission and tax are calculated from the sale price, not from the cost price. So they can't simply be added to the purchase — this is the main cause of calculation errors.
The minimum price formula
The minimum price is the one at which, after deducting all costs, you are left with the target profit:
Minimum price = (cost price + delivery + profit) ÷ (1 − commission − tax)
Commission and tax in the formula are shares of the price: 12% = 0.12.
Calculation example
Let's take a hypothetical product:
| Cost price | 10 000 ₸ |
| Delivery to the buyer | 1 000 ₸ |
| Desired minimum profit | 1 000 ₸ |
| Commission (illustrative) | 12% |
| Tax (illustrative) | 3% |
Minimum price = (10 000 + 1 000 + 1 000) ÷ (1 − 0.12 − 0.03) = 12 000 ÷ 0.85 ≈ 14 118 ₸.
Let's check: at a price of 14 118 ₸ the commission is 1 694 ₸, the tax is 424 ₸. What remains is 14 118 − 1 694 − 424 − 10 000 − 1 000 = 1 000 ₸ of profit. It matches.
A typical mistake: adding percentages to the cost price
A common "quick" calculation: (10 000 + 1 000 + 1 000) × 1.15 = 13 800 ₸. It seems that 15% is built in for commission and tax. But at a price of 13 800 ₸ the commission will be 1 656 ₸, the tax 414 ₸, and the profit will be 13 800 − 1 656 − 414 − 11 000 = 730 ₸ instead of the planned 1 000 ₸. On every sale you lose more than a quarter of the profit, and when selling at the minimum you don't even notice it.
Why the minimum price matters with automatic reduction
In a competitive card the price constantly goes down — sellers undercut each other by a tenge. If you lower the price by hand or with a bot, the minimum price is the boundary where the fight for first place must stop. Without it, it's easy to be first in the card and sell at a loss at the same time.
With automatic price reduction in RebithReprice the minimum is set for each product and the bot never goes below it. Commission, tax and delivery rates can be set once in the store settings, and the product add wizard calculates the minimum price with a calculator.
When to recalculate the minimum price
- the purchase price or the cost of delivery to the warehouse changed;
- Kaspi changed the commission in your category;
- delivery rates to the buyer changed;
- you switched to a different tax regime;
- the product is purchased in foreign currency and the exchange rate shifted noticeably — for such products RebithReprice has automatic minimum price updating by exchange rate.
In short
- Commission and tax are calculated from the sale price — divide by (1 − percentages), don't multiply.
- Calculate the minimum for each product separately.
- Recalculate it when purchase cost, commission, delivery or exchange rate changes.
- Don't go below the minimum — neither by hand nor with a bot.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I see the current Kaspi commission?
In the seller account and on the Kaspi.kz business website. The commission depends on the product category and may change, so check it before calculating prices.
Is commission calculated from the sale price or from the cost price?
As a rule, the marketplace commission is calculated as a percentage of the sale price — check the exact terms for your category in the seller account. So when you lower the price the commission in tenge also decreases, but profit falls faster — it's important to account for this in the minimum price.
How often should the minimum price be recalculated?
When the purchase price, currency rate, commission or delivery rates change. For products purchased in foreign currency, automatic minimum price updating by exchange rate is convenient.
